Scope note
The first commercially available acrylic paint. It was prepared from pigments suspended in a solution of n-butyl methacrylate resin and solvent, developed by Leonard Bocour and Sam Golden in the mid-1940s. Magna could be diluted with turpentine or mineral spirits, had a fast drying time. and could be combined with oil paints. It dried to a hard, matte film. Manufacture of this paint ended in the 1970s.
