Scope note
Hard, heavy wood from the Brazilian species Mezilaurus itauba, having uniform texture and color, greenish olive in color when cut but becoming dark chestnut color over time. It has been used in construction, for shipbuilding, bridges, posts, beams, door and window sills, floorboards, and furniture.
