- Wood of the species Brosimum paraense, native to tropical America. It is bright red or reddish-brown in color, has a medium texture, takes a lustrous polish, and is used in the manufacture of cabinetwork and veneer. Not a true rosewood. The term is now found primarily in older literature, and the intended source species is often unclear.
