Scope note
Beds with an unsupported canopy, typically shorter than the bed; there are no posts on a lit d'ange, although sometimes the term is used incorrectly to refer to types of canopy beds with posts. For grander beds with a frame supporting the canopy, use "lits à la duchesse."
