- Light, two-wheeled carriages, open or hooded, akin to gigs and chaises but, instead of having shafts, equipped with traces and a center pole to be drawn by two horses abreast; popular in England and the United States from the mid-18th to the mid-19th century, although production continued into the early 20th century.
