Scope note
A general term in Mexico for ornaments worn at the neck such as a necklace or collar. By extension, the term refers to jewels, round beads, and items of jewelry. It also includes the concept of preciousness as in the difrasismo "in cozcatl, in quetzalli" (the necklace, the quetzal's feather), a metaphor referring to children.
