European beech (wood)

- Wood of the tree species Fagus sylvatica, native to Eurasia and Great Britain. It is a reddish-brown, close-grained wood that bends well and gives a smooth shiny finish. It is a commonly used timber for flooring, cabinetry, furniture, veneer, tool handles, turnery, and was occasionally used in panel paintings in western Europe.
