Scope note
In Indian architecture, pillars or columns, usually monumental, which in the context of Hindu mythology are believed to be a cosmic column that functions as a bond, joining heaven and earth. Types: Rucaka, Bhadraka, Vardhamāna, Brahmakānta, Viṣṇukānta, Īśakānta/Rudrakānta, Indrakānta, etc.
