Scope note
Photographic images made from a negative that had been printed on a glass plate covered with gelatin silver emulsion, characterized by the back of the glass plate having been painted with gold mixed with banana oil or with bronze powders mixed in resin to give the appearance of gold. The technique was popularized by Edward Sheriff Curtis (1868-1952).
