bromoil prints
- Scope note
- Prints made from the photographic process in which the developed silver in a gelatin print is used as a catalyst to tan the gelatin, and the untanned highlights are used as a resist to a greasy ink. The original plate may be the end product or may be used as a master for transferring the image to another support. Resulting prints resemble etchings or lithographs. Though the process was originally described ca. 1907, prints may be made in this way using modern enlarging papers.
