Scope note
Tapestry carpets of the type in which the loop has been cut so as to form an upright, velvety pile. The pile is typically slightly higher than a tapestry carpet. Velvet carpets may resemble Wilton carpets, but the pile of the velvet carpet is not so rich or thick as a Wilton carpet, and the two types of carpet are produced by different methods.
