Tiered cylindrical containers consisting of usually two to four separate containers of the same shape and size, which are stacked one on top of the other within a frame that has a handle. Tiffin carriers are used for carrying cooked food, with different dishes placed in the separate containers. Traditionally, these stacked containers are held together by the carrier handle which frame is fitted through the small side handles of each container and fastened with a catchment at the top. Presently, there are various designs of tiffin carriers. Tiffin carriers are usually made from stainless steel or enamel. Tiffin carriers, as they are called in Singapore and Malaysia, are used in other parts of Asia and have their own local names.
