Small cologne boxes hinged in two halves and that contain a sponge soaked in perfume water. The lodderein box differs from other silver boxes in that its shape is always higher than wide, this to prevent the perfume from evaporating too quickly. The name lodderein is a corruption of "eau de la reine (de Hongrie)," a special type of perfume, related to eau de cologne.
