Scope note:

Describes the style and culture of inhabitants of the Pacific island group known as Micronesia. Traditional Micronesian art consisted of body painting and ornamentation, singing, dancing, and the recital of myths and poetry. Micronesians are well known for their communal architecture and canoe building. Contemporary Micronesian art forms have incorporated new materials, techniques, and subject matter in order to further develop their tourist trade.
