Film genre that intends to cause fright and terror in the viewer for entertainment. Subjects can range from from violence and death and man-made monsters, to aliens from other worlds to madness to nuclear or natural disasters. Over the course of film history, horror has evolved with human history, mirroring current events and current fears.
