Anotations

Scope note:

Refers to a system of perspective designed to counteract the effect of more distant objects appearing smaller at a distance. It employs the use of lines of sight to adjust proportions, typically in large-scale lettering and decorations, the effect being that all lettering or decoration appears to be the same scale from the vantage point of the viewer. The system was described in ancient times by Plato and others, and it was discussed by Dürer and other Renaissance artists.
