Scope note:

Nature reserves inhabited by indigenous peoples of Australia that have been designated as protected by the Australian Government. Traditional indigenous owners of the land enter into voluntary agreement with the Govenment to establish the boundaries of the area, in order to promote biodiversity and to preserve cultural resource conservation. An IPA is considered part of the National Reserve System of Australia.
