Scope note:

Culture and style of Native North Americans who historically occupied the areas in Idaho, Montana, and Washington when Europeans arrived, particularly the area around what is now called Lake Pend Oreille. Today, the Kalispel are recognized as the "Kalispel Indian Community" in Washington and are members of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes in Montana.
