Cultures and styles of the Kanakanavu people lived in Taiwan. The Kanakanavu people attained official recognition as distinct from the Tsou people in 2014. In the Qing dynasty the Han Chinese referred to the Kanakanavu people as kanavu-huan; and, the Japanese grouped them under the rubric of Tsou. The Kanakanavu people primarily live in Namaxia District, Kaohsiung City. The society is dominated by patriarchy, running the Mikong festival and the river festival as major celebrations.
