Scope note:

Culture and style of the Chinchorro people who lived in what is now northern Chile and southern Peru from about 7,000 BCE to 500 BCE. The culture is named for the archaeological site of Chinchorro in Arica which contained a collection of mummies, among the earliest in the world.
