Refers to the work of a school of painters active in the 17th -19th centuries, as an ofshoot of the Tosa school. The school was founded by Sumiyoshi Jokei, who was appointed head of the Office of painting of the Sumiyoshi Shrine in Osaka. The style is characterized by the continuation of the miniaturist tradition of the Tosa school, with small format albums and picture scrolls, typically showing man in nature.
