Scope note:

A lithographic printing process achieved by drawing with lithographic chalk, also called crayon, on a grained stone roughened by fine sand. The drawing chalk or crayon adheres to the grain, making shading possible. Applied ink adheres to the chalked area, and is then transferred to paper for the final print.
