Scope note:

Christian religious monuments in the form of a column and erected in thanksgiving for surviving the plague. They may be dedicated to the Holy Trinity, the Virgin Mary, a saint, or with another dedication. They were common in Catholic countries of Europe, especially in the 17th and 18th centuries
