Scope note:

Very small dolls made of bits of cloth, bone, and wood generally produced in Guatemala but probably having originated in the Maya culture utilizing scraps of fabric left over from making clothing. Children and adults confide their worries or troubles to the doll, and it is believed that the doll takes on the troubles so that the user can sleep in peace.
