Anotations

Scope note:

Long-hemmed dresses worn by Crow (Apsáalooke) women and girls; made distinctive by the use of elk teeth decorating the upper half of the garment. Elk teeth are sewn in parallel rows across the collar and bodice, sometimes covering the arms and waist as well. Depending on the family's wealth or expertise in hunting, the more the dress is elaborately decorated. Worn as part of ceremonial regalia.
