Scope note:

Photographic process invented by Niépce and Daguerre in 1832, whereby images are produced by a process that utilized lavender dissolved in alcohol as the photosensitive agent. The resulting solution was then applied to a silver plate, and then exposed in a camera obscura for several hours.
