Three-wheeled vehicles, particularly of light open framework construction, usually powered by the rider via pedals and cranks, or occasionally by a motor; for similar lightweight manually powered vehicles, but without comfort- or speed-enhancing features, constructed prior to about 1870, prefer "velocipedes."
