Wood of trees belonging to the genus Hopea, native to Burma, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and mush of continental Southeast Asia. The sapwood is a pale yellowish-brown with a yellowish-brown to olive brown heartwood. It is used in manufacturing flooring, ceiling boards, paneling, and in ship and boat building.
