Scope note:

Wood of the trees belonging to the Acacia genus, native to tropical and subtropical regions of the world, mostly Australia. Historically the term has been used to refer to wood of genera other than Acacia as well, especially trees of genera Vachellia and Senegalia. The strong, elastic, hardwood is used for furniture, walking sticks, and tool handles.
