Scope note:

Type of porcelain material comprising white china clay, or "kaolin," and "petuntse," which is a naturally fusible feldspathic rock. It is "hard fired" at the relatively high temperature of around 1450 degrees centigrade. It was developed first in China and produced in Europe after 1700.
