Scope note:

Bovid species equiped for living at high altitude, having large lungs, a high red blood cell count, and higher concentration of hemoglobin than most other bovids. Domesticated populations differ from the wild species, Bos mutus, in having shorter legs, broader hooves, more varied pelage coloration, and weaker horns which sometimes can be absent altogether. was probably domesticated in Tibet but has been introduced wherever there are people at elevations of 4,000-6,000 metres (14,000–20,000 feet), mainly in China but also in Central Asia, Mongolia, and Nepal.
