Scope note:

Modernist chair designed by Hans J. Wegner ca. 1950, and manufactured by Carl Hansen. The frame is of beech and the seat is constructed of woven paper cord. Part of the backrest is in the form of the letter 'Y,' from which the chair derived its name.
