Scope note:

Positive albumen prints upon glass widely used to create lantern slides and sometimes larger glass transparencies hung in windows for decoration; produced by a patented process called Hyalotype, developed and promoted by the Lingenheim brothers of Philadelphia from 1850. Distinguished from "crystalotypes" on paper produced by a similar process patented by J. A. Whipple of Boston.
