Anotations

Scope note:

Strategy board games for two players dating perhaps to the Roman Empire. The game has many variations based on the number of pieces, and corresponding variant names. The playing surface consists of a grid with intersections or points. In the most common form, each player has nine pieces in contrasting colors. Players attempt to form correspondences of pieces aligned to allow a player to remove an opponent's piece from the game. A player wins by reducing an opponent's number of pieces to a minimum, or to allow no possible moves.
