Scope note
Named for the village outside of Hà Nội where they are produced, these artworks were traditionally painted, but are now woodblock printed on treated dó paper from Rhamnoneuron balansae. They depict auspicious folk icons, such as babies, carp, roosters, and pigs to bestow good luck and prosperity during special occasions such as weddings and Tết, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year.
