These negatives are created by pouring collodion onto a clean piece of clear glass to produce an even coating. Before the ether and alcohol evaporates from the collodion, the plate is dipped into a solution of silver nitrate in a darkroom. The silver nitrate bonds with the potassium iodide in the collodion to produce light-sensitive silver iodide. After exposure the plates are developed in a solution of pyrogallic and acetic acids, washed, fixed, dried and varnished. ]]></note></mads>
