Ritual weapons of Hinduism and Buddhism. A symbol of indestructibility and power often depicted as a ritual scepter or club and as an attribute of guardian deities. A vajra is in the form of a club having a head on both ends or on one end; the head is either ribbed to form a sphere or pointed to stab. The term means thunderbolt and diamond, symbolizing the indestructibility of diamond and the irresistible force of the thunderbolt.
