Scope note:

Applied decoration comprising tinfoil pressed into a mold to create a surface of lines and patterns that suggest brocaded fabric. Warm wax or wax resin-based paste was then applied to the surface. This resulted in a pattern which was gilded and painted and then roundly cut with the foil. The molded product was then applied to the surface of a painting or sculpture.
