Scope note:

Multi-purpose medical instruments of Roman antiquity consisting of a long shaft with an olivary probe terminating one end and a spoon on the other. The spoon and the shaft are sometimes decorated. These were used for a variety of medical and cosmetic activities such as applying and measuring medicaments or the removal of medication from flasks.
