Scope note:

Refers to the pottery style found in northern Mesopotamia during the late 3rd millennium BCE, named after the metallic clink made when sherds are knocked together. The style is characterized by gray-black, highly fired, dense and hard vessels that are sometimes decorated with spiral burnishing or painted horizontal bands.
