Scope note:

Eyeglasses that enable the illusion of depth to be produced by two-dimensional images. These originally used color filters: one red and one blue or green over each eye, corresponding to interlaced images in the same colors, to create the illusion in monochromatic images. Later developments for color film have used polarization techniques to create the effect.
