Scope note:

A serpentinite from the Italian Riviera, between Spezia and Genoa. It is found in two varieties: one is purplish or mottled black and dark red with some green pebbles or veins, the other is green with many white veins. It is difficult to work with but acquires a high polish. It may resemble some varieties of variegated marble from Tennessee in the United States.
