Scope note:

Fine Roman pottery that is a type of Terra sigillata pottery produced primarily during the Augustine period. Strictly speaking, the term applies only to such pottery produced in Arezzo, Italy, however, it is also used to refer to other Roman pottery found in Italy that imitates the style of Arezzo. It is characterized by a relatively early date, a fine quality, and distinctive patterns and figural compositions, imitating silverware, that were either punched individually with designs or cast from molds.
