Anotations

Scope note:

Mechanized devices, originally patened in 1826 by John Goulding, used as part of the carding process to produce a continuous wool roving. These devices utilize a ring doffer and revolving tubes to separate carded wool into strips and twist the strips enough to ensure that the fibers adhere in a tubular form. These condensers benefit the carding process by both eliminating the need to piece together individual lengths of carded fibers and producing more uniform, higher quality roving.
