Scope note:

Small, portable devices that use warps threaded through the holes of perforated tablets to create decorative bands. The device's tablets rotate as the warp is threaded, creating patterned sheds through which the weft thread is passed. These looms were commonly used during the Roman and Byzantine eras, but originated in Egypt around the 1st millennium BC.
