Scope note:

Blotters bearing advertisements. Some, advertising mainly school supplies, were issued to school children in France from the late 19th century up until the 1960s. In mid-20th century, Esquire Magazine was advertised by blotters featuring movie star pin-up drawings and photos. Customized advertising blotters are still produced today.
