Scope note:

A platform of sticks where Huitzilopochtli's ixiptlah, made of dough of amaranth seed, was seated in postclassic central Mexico. Used during the installation of the deity, it was made of huitzitzillacotl or "hummingbird sticks" and nacaztlacotl "ear sticks," describing the shape of the wood.
