Species of medium-sized deciduous shrub native to moist acidic soils of eastern North America, from Nova Scotia and Ontario south to Alabama, and west to Wisconsin. It is commercially grown elsewhere. It has leaves that turn bright red in the Autumn, bell-shaped white flowers, and a dark blue edible berry.
