Scope note:

Species of creeping shrub found in marshy land in northern North America, Asia, and in northern and central Europe. The leaves are evergreen, oval or elliptical. Its round, crimson berries are about the size of currants and are often spotted; they have an acid taste. Red dye may be made from the berries.
