Scope note:

A type of lightweight transfer paper used for duplicating typewriting, pencil, or pen writing. The paper is coated on one side with dark pigment and a medium, typically a mix of waxes and oils, that is transferred to a copying surface such as paper by the impact of writing pressure or typewriter keys. Smudgeproof carbon paper has an additional coating of plastic lacquer.
